Thank you for attending the 2026 Museums Tour and Talk!
Museums from across the South West District face many of the same challenges and questions, but haven’t had the opportunity to come together, meet new contacts, see inside other museums, discuss topics, and learn from one another.
We were proud to host our first Museum Tour and Talk in the communities of Avonlea, Claybank, and Briercrest, so participants could see the three museums, the different facilities, their operations, how they compare/differ, ask questions, and learn.
Some topics of discussion included how museums respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action or Reconciliation efforts, changing business models, different types of paint for displays, summer students, sponsorship recognition, storage, signage, and many more!
Thank you to everyone who attended. It was a wonderful day; the weather was beautiful. Other activities included a Badlands Tour in Avonlea, ice-cream in Briercrest, and not to mention the delicious lunch in Claybank.
We hope everyone left better connected to museums across the South West District.

Thanks for attending the 2026 Aquatics Gathering
What a Splash!
Earlier this month, we were pleased to bring together pool staff and community members from across the district for our Aquatics Gathering. The day featured discussions on topics such as pool maintenance, programming, staffing, operations, and more. Our day included tours of both facilities, led by head maintenance staff, which provided valuable information about each site.
Thank you to the Shaunavon Swimming Pool and the Gull Lake Pool for hosting us.
